Our South American adventure in October, Quito, Ecuador began. Quito is not much for tourists with a big, big city, we wandered around the old town and city views from various points around the outside had the pleasure of watching.
Our next stop is a cloud forest reserve called Bella Vista, where we spent several days hiking and bird watching were - the cloud forest is pretty spectacular, but as the name suggests, gets lots of rain - every afternoon It really came bucketing down.
Next we headed to Cotopaxi National Park, a small inn run on the principles of the environment in which to stay - no power, composting toilets, etc. - quite a cool experience! We have a trip to the volcano and to 4500 meters, 4800 meters - the height of a steep hill running is hard going. We hoped to Glacier but there was too much snow, our guide, we turn back - still a great day.
Rotorua as Ecuador, the natural hot pool are the main attraction - Banos is a small mountain village where we spent a few nights. Great - we even had Ruta des cascadas "or" fountain road "was a day trip on the downhill mountain biking.

Our next trip Amazon Basin, we were really looking forward to was. We flew in a Coca-called town about four hours, took a canoe to reach "Saturn Lodge, which is owned and operated by the region's Native Indians. On at 5:00 for breakfast before the trip - our days were pretty full! They had us walking, birdwatching, and out in canoes. Great caimans visits and night visits, we ... Tarantulas are scary enough to get. Piranha fishing is a sign - James and I did not catch it, but others did not and it looks really terrible, terrible teeth! Another high point was a trip we had Quilotoa loop, we in the central highlands, a region of small towns taken. We are a great place called Black Sheep Inn, and a few large step, including a portion of Quilotoa Crater Lake Rim. Lake is a beautiful color and the scenery was outstanding. Our Saturday market for us last weekend in the north of Quito is a city called Otavalo, where indigenous people sell their wares for hundreds of years have resulted. They are known for woolen goods, and we have some beautiful alpaca scarves and a poncho James size and scale of the market is large (who as a Mexican bandit with his beard, look!), It is difficult to believe it is every week.

Unfortunately, our last day in Ecuador ended badly ... James was crossing a street and a car did not see him - he was in a bad way to be done with the foot injury. Fortunately we are still employees of the airport and with the help of a wheelchair is able to catch our flight. But not to dwell on the bad points - Ecuador is a beautiful country and we had a wonderful time there.

so nice
